Sektmanufaktur Perlgut is located on the outskirts of the town of Meissen in the sun-drenched Spaargebirge mountains. The young winery, which was founded in 2013, produces exclusively fine, sparkling single-vineyard and vintage sparkling wines.
The young sparkling wine producer Perlgut, founded by the trained winemaker and oenologist Hendrik Weber, has been located at the foot of the Kapitelberg since 2013. It began with 1,500 square meters of Pinot Noir vines. Hendrik Weber now cultivates 1.5 hectares of vines. Burgundy varieties as well as Riesling and Scheurebe are cultivated on the Meißner Kapitelberg, Proschwitzer Katzensprung and Radebeuler Johannisberg. Great importance is attached to near-natural cultivation without the use of insecticides and herbicides. The sparkling wines, which are made exclusively from grapes grown in Saxony, have been available on the market since 2016.
Excellent vineyards, passion, commitment and the best craftsmanship are the basis for the high-quality single-vineyard and vintage sparkling wines from Sektmanufaktur Perlgut. Last but not least, it is the intensive manual work and gentle processing that ensure the first-class quality of these original Saxon sparkling wines. After the hand-picked grapes are processed using gentle whole-cluster pressing and initial fermentation in stainless steel tanks or oak barrels, the sparkling wines are refined using the classic bottle fermentation method, which is regarded as a high-quality method for sparkling wine production. The base wine is mixed with yeast and sugar and filled into bottles. There, the sparkling wines mature on the lees, sometimes for several years.
