Weingut Schloss Proschwitz Prinz zur Lippe is the oldest private winery still in existence in Saxony. The high-quality Saxon wines thrive on around 70 hectares of vineyards.
Wine has been cultivated on the Proschwitz slopes for more than 850 years. After buying back the estate in 1990, Georg Prinz zur Lippe has consistently focused on quality and refrained from harvesting large quantities. Since 1996, the estate has belonged to the elite association of Prädikat wine estates in Germany, the VDP. Fruity, elegant white and red wines thrive in the two monopole vineyards "Schloss Proschwitz" and "Kloster Heilig Kreuz". The white wines in particular reflect the unique terroir of the Proschwitz vineyards with their special fruitiness and minerality. Dense, fascinating red wines are refined in barriques.
Visitors can get to know and taste the Proschwitz range in the vinotheque, which is open daily. There is ample seating both inside and in the castle courtyard. The culinary offerings include tarte flambée, cheese specialties and vintner's bread. The non-alcoholic offer currently includes grape juice and grape juice spritzer. A non-alcoholic Secco will be available from May 2025.
There is a wildlife enclosure for children to marvel at near the parking lot. The castle garden invites you to take a stroll.
The castle is only open for events. Guided tours can be requested individually.
In the Proschwitz vineyard cottage, not far from Proschwitz Castle, you can enjoy the view of Meissen Albrechtsburg Castle and the Elbe Valley. During the Open Winery Days in Saxony, which take place every year on the last full weekend in August, an extensive program is offered both at Proschwitz Castle and at the vineyard cottage.
