St. Pauli Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries in Dresden. It is located in the north of Dresden between Hechtstraße, Hammerweg and Stauffenbergallee in the northern Leipzig suburb at the foot of the Hellerberge and belongs to several parishes in Dresden. The cemetery is laid out in terraces and has space for around 30,000 graves.
The total area of the St. Pauli cemetery is around 11 hectares, of which around 2.6 hectares are paths and access areas and 1.5 hectares are green areas. The burial plots with different types of graves are designated alphabetically. Individual urn graves have been arranged in field S, and communal urn graves in field UGG.
The cemetery contains around 90 protected individual graves, numerous memorials and graves of important personalities. In addition to the Marschalleiche, there is another Dresden memorial tree in the cemetery: the Meschwit oak is the largest example of the shingle oak in Germany.
