Dresden's most famous bridge connects the districts of Blasewitz and Loschwitz with each other: on the Blasewitz side there is Schillerplatz, on the Loschwitz side you first reach Körnerplatz.
The mighty iron construction with a total length of 226 metres was completed in 1893 in only two years of construction time. It is one of the first of its kind in Europe. The name "Blue Wonder" goes back to the original green paint of the bridge, which, however, turned blue over time.
The area around the Blue Wonder is a traditional commercial location and is today one of the most popular residential areas, excursion destinations and shopping areas in the city.
