Landhaus - Local History Museum

At a glance

Das Landhaus mit Stadtmuseum ist das zentrale Stadt und Heimatmuseum der sächsischen Landeshauptstadt Dresden.

The Landhaus on Pirnaischer Platz has belonged to the Dresden local History Museum since its reconstruction in 1965. It was originally built by Friedrich August Krubsacius in a mixture of late baroque and classicism for the assemblies of the state estates. Inside, a curved double-flight staircase provides access to the house. Dresden's urban development and everyday life in the different centuries is told with exciting exhibits. The same building is also home to the municipal gallery, which provides an overview of the work of regional artists such as Curt Querner, Otto Griebel or A. Penck, who also had a supraregional impact.
