For many, the four timpani beats from the opening chorus of the Christmas Oratorio are a signal: Christmas is coming.
Now I feel this childlike anticipation, this tingling sensation. Now I surrender myself completely to this wonderful music and listen to this familiar story again and again in amazement. And so let us shout and rejoice, let us furtively sway along to "Great Lord and Mighty King" and let us secretly sing along to the touching chorales. In short: let's enjoy all the magic of Bach's first three cantatas of the "Christmas Oratorio" together in the Frauenkirche.
