The "Schwalbennest" vineyard house is located on the "Rote Presse" vineyard in the Meißner Kapitelberg vineyard site in the Spaargebirge. The vineyard house has become a landmark of viticulture in the Meißner Land region.
It was built sometime in the 19th century as a summer house and guardhouse. It used to have a trailing roof on the hillside and a small corner tower facing the town. The Schwalbennest originally belonged directly to the Rote Presse winery, whose owners changed several times over the course of time and included the legendary Major Freude. He is said to have used the discovery of a buried war chest to carry out a comprehensive redesign and modernization of the vineyard. However, the results failed to materialize and he had to sell the vineyard. But just one year later, the town, as the new owner, reaped an extremely rich harvest. Today, the district belongs to the town of Coswig and the Sächsische Winzergenossenschaft Meißen is the tenant. The Schwalbennest has become a popular destination for hikes.
