The Rothes Gut winery is located in the beautiful vineyards just a 15-minute walk from Meissen's Albrechtsburg castle. One of winemaker Tim Strasser's specialties is the white fungus-resistant Helios, Hibernal and Solaris grape varieties.
The winery, newly founded in 2010, was once a farm that partially burned down in 1977. Tim Strasser is gradually restoring the Rothe Gut Meißen and is the 4th generation of his family to cultivate the vineyards. The vineyards on the left bank of the Elbe, with their heavy mineral loess loam soils, give the wine from the Rothen Gut a racy, tangy acidity. Tim Strasser focuses on new varieties such as Helios, Hibernal, Muscaris, Regent and Solaris, which are vinified as single varietals. A young, dynamic team looks forward to your visit.
The winery recently acquired the largest historic wine press in the Elbe Valley, made entirely of wood, which has been lovingly restored and is a listed building.
