The Frauenkirche with its octagonal baroque steeple is enthroned above the roofs of the market place in Meissen. The Frauenkirche is known, among other things, for the world's first playable carillon made of Meissen porcelain, which sounds six times a day.
If you let your gaze wander over the baroque tower dome, you will recognize in one of the gothic window openings the world's first playable carillon made of Meissen porcelain with 37 tunable porcelain bells. Six times a day, the porcelain chimes from 1929 can be heard in the streets and alleys of Meissen with ever-changing chorales.

The interior of the church with its special and atmospheric atmosphere invites to reflection and prayer. In the three-aisled church room there is an altar of the Virgin Mary. This is a late gothic carving of lime wood with gold leaf from the 15th century, whose side wings were added in 1928. A large panel painting from 1549 in the northwest chapel, a small late-Gothic winged altar in the southern side aisle, three colored choir windows from 1888 with biblical scenes and an altarpiece in the Romantic style from 1840 complete the church interior. However, the church is not only a place of sanctity and devotion for many, but also contributes to a lively city culture with a wide range of events. Among other things, concerts take place within its walls. Guided tours or an ascent of the Frauenkirchturm are also possible. Whoever climbs the 193 steps of the tower is rewarded with a unique view over the roofs of Meissen.
